We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead the payment and Cash Advance strategy for the product engineering team. You will take care of the performance, productivity, and innovation in this scope. You like to be seen as a hands-on manager, you like to be close to the topics your teams are handling and be able to challenge them to always optimize user experience and deliver value.
You're someone energized by removing obstacles, streamlining processes, and enabling your team to deliver exceptional results while supporting their professional growth and overall well-being.
Key responsibilities âš
Lead and inspire a high-performing team : Youâll manage 2â3 cross-functional squads (8 to 15 engineers), creating the conditions for them to thrive: clear direction, strong rituals, and a collaborative culture. You foster alignment through regular team moments stand-ups, retros, and workshops and care deeply about team morale and engagement.
Co-build product and technical strategy : Youâll help craft the vision and strategy for the Payment & Cash Advance domain, ensuring your teams are fully aligned on goals and the path to get there. Youâll translate high-level objectives into actionable plans, and keep everyone focused on what matters most: delivering value to users.
Raise the bar on delivery and engineering excellence : Youâll set and track the right KPIs to measure impact, velocity, and quality and ensure that delivery is predictable and transparent. As part of Maltâs Engineering Manager Guild, youâll also help scale what works across the org by contributing to shared rituals, tooling, and process improvements.
Own our payments and financing ecosystem :Â Youâll be the primary tech point of contact for our external financial partners, from PSPs to cash advance providers. Youâll ensure smooth integration, operational reliability, and long-term scalability in this core part of Maltâs product.About you đ§âđ
Youâre comfortable navigating fast-paced, evolving environments. Whether itâs managing technical migrations, shifting team structures, or aligning business and tech priorities.Youâve mastered agile methodologies, and you know how to build high-performing product teams. Youâve worked in a scale-up or hyper-growth environment, and you understand how to balance speed, scalability, and quality.A significant experience as a senior individual contributor as backend/fullstack (ideally in java/Kotlin) You enjoy being part of code review, MR, architecture discussion and technical quality.You have an expertise in payment systems at scale. You understand the constraints and opportunities that come with building for this domain.Youâre someone who doesnât wait for instructions, you act. You identify problems, propose solutions, and rally the right people to move forward.Â
Fluent in written and spoken English (French is a plus)Youâre able to explain complex technical or strategic topics to a range of audiences. You know that communication is what makes good teams great.You keep an eye on emerging tech, especially around AI.
